First Birthday Party Planning...Sneak Peak!

First Birthday Party Ideas
So Lilly's birthday party is exactly one month away which means that party planning is in full swing! Here's what I've done so far:

I made the banner out of remaining paper that I had left over after making the invitations. (To see how I made the invitations click here)The ribbon is from my sponsor Shop Thinking of U. They also provided the ribbon for the invitations. All their ribbon is excellent quality and absolutely adorable!

First Birthday Party Ideas

The washi tape jars (see that post here) are currently filled with striped pink and green straws which I found on Etsy. They fit perfectly through the daisy-cut mason jar lids I found through a company called Candle Soylutions, Candle Soylutions offers a wide variety of cut mason jar lids as well as other containers, labels, and packaging materials. (Be sure to check out their website because they have a TON of great items) The lids I purchased were pewter but they have other options as well. The daisy cut lids are very popular right now and a number of stores sell them. I did a LOT of searching on Etsy as well as on other sites but Candle Soylutions was by far the lowest price, and I LOVE how they turned out! Once I get a hold of the mason jars (currently in my mom's attic) they will be filled with pink lemonade. I'm so excited about seeing the finished product!

Beside's making all the food I still need to work on finishing up the favors and adding some more decor to the back yard/patio area. Can you think of anything I might be missing?!

New and Improved "Veggie Tray"

Gotta take care of some business first...there are only two more days to enter into the clutch giveaway from MSG FabriCreations! To find out more click here.

Lilly will officially be 11 months tomorrow, which means that her first birthday is quickly approaching! (Too quickly might I add). I'm in the process of planning the menu and wanted to include some veggies somewhere in there. I felt like the tried and true veggie tray has been so overdone so I wanted to class the concept up just a bit.

So, of course this led me to Pinterest, where I found this adorable idea:

Cute Veggie Tray

How fun is that right? It's so cute that I might even be inclined to eat a vegetable or two...

So, with this in mind I went yard sale-ing this past Saturday and spotted these old jars...

They were $.50 each and I thought they definitely had some vegetable potential.

After a good cleaning I removed the orange seal (didn't get rid of it, just removed it for now because it didn't match the color scheme) and added some pink and green washi tape

New and Improved Veggie Tray with washi tape

Don't you think they'll go wonderfully with the 'country' theme once I stick some carrots, tomatoes, and cauliflower in them? And in case you forgot they just so happen to match perfectly with the party invitations I made... (You don't remember? It's ok, You can find those here)

If you're looking for some gingham washi tape, like the kind I used in this post, click on the Amazon link below: There are a number of different styles and colors to choose from.

Washi Tape: Inspiration and a Giveaway!

Washi Tape Project

So recently I've become obsessed with slightly interested in Washi Tape. If you haven't heard about it yet you are in luck. Today's post is about all things Washi:

What is it?: Washi Tape is Japanese decorative tape. It is becoming more and more popular and it can be used on paper, glass, ceramic, and plastic...just to name a few. If you type in "Washi Tape Projects" into either Google or Pinterest you will find hundreds of creative ideas on how to use the tape.

Where do I find it?: If you want it in your hot little hands today, I've heard it is available at both Target and Michael's (although I didn't see any at Michael's when I was last there). There are also a number of places where you can purchase the tape online. If you don't need it today, I would suggest going online. The brick and mortar stores don't have a large supply and the options are limited.

One of my favorite online Washi Tape retailers is Cute Tape. They have a HUGE supply of Washi Tape as well as other decorative tape, stamps, twine and much more. And because they are so awesome they are doing a giveaway today for your very own Washi Tape Starter Kit! More on that later...

What can I do with it?: So now you're thinking, "This stuff looks cool but what can I do with it?" Well I'm so glad you asked! Below are a few projects that I've found. Click on the link below each picture to learn how to do these as well as to check out the other great projects on each of these blogs.  I hope they inspire you!
