Good Lyrics

So I have to admit; often when singing in church my mind drifts to other things. I'll be singing but not really paying all that much attention to the words that I'm singing. Today though, about halfway through the song "Blessed Be Your Name" I began paying attention to the lyrics, below are some that specifically struck me.

Lately, a number of our relatives, as well as the relatives of some of our close friends have had some very serious health issues. A few of our close friends have had some family members die in the past few weeks and lately it feels like every time we talk to someone we hear more bad news. In talking to a friend yesterday we mentioned that we aren't questioning God or angry with him, but we do have  a sense of confusion as to why some of these things are happening. The lyrics of the song below was a great reminder that even in hard times (darkness closing in) as Christians we still need to say "Blessed be Your Name". I also appreciated the lyric: "My heard will choose to say". Each of us has a choice to have an attitude of faith, and I'm working on trying to have that kind of heart.

Every blessing You pour out
I'll turn back to praise
When the darkness closes in, Lord
Still I will say

Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your glorious name

Blessed be Your name
When the sun's shining down on me
When the world's 'all as it should be'
Blessed be Your name

Blessed be Your name
On the road marked with suffering
Though there's pain in the offering
Blessed be Your name
