Family Room Reno

With two very active little girls hanging around the house these days we realized that our current TV setup downstairs was no longer going to work. Below is what our downstairs looked like last week. This is just half of the room. The room is huge which is nice but it is awkwardly shaped which has caused furniture placement issues for the past five years... The other half of the room serves as our office and this half is our family room.

Notice the TV in the corner? This was the problem area. All the cords behind the TV were out in the open for little babies to touch, pull, yank, bite, etc. The other problem was that the doorway was somewhat blocked by the TV. That doorway leads to our back porch, laundry room and a half bath. Whenever we wanted to go out the door we kind of needed to squeeze around the TV...not ideal.

Here is a picture of the opposite side of the room.

And here it is with the new furniture placement. We simply moved the sectional and moved the TV. We purchased a new TV stand from World Market that allowed everything to be enclosed underneath. No more easy baby access to the DVD's, cords and the play station

I absolutely love the new arrangement. It allows for an easy walking path to the door which we desperately needed and it is clutter free which I love. I absolutely hate clutter. What do you think of the switch up?

  1. You did a great job placing the furniture. I also have some rooms with the same problem. It is hard to know what to do with some rooms! We purchased our home after it was built, i have built the last three homes....so it has been a challenge. Your room looks great! Would love to have you visit me at pinecreekstyle.blogspot.com, your newest follower....NeeCee
