I'm back from vacation, relaxed and ready to be creative! Sitting in my mailbox when I got home was a package from my sponsor Shop Thinking of U! They sent me some alligator clips and grippys which they have available on their site along with some cute ribbon. The grippys are made out of the same material that you line your shelves with, or place under your rug to keep it from sliding. To be honest, I was a little doubtful that they would work but I was wrong..they do! Lilly has almost no hair and with the help of the grippy the alligator clip stays in her hair without a problem!
After a few attempts I was satisfied with how my bow turned out. Its super easy and I finished within 15 minutes!!
Here's what you'll need to make a bow:
- One Alligator clip (They can be found here)
- One Grippy (this is optional, suggested if your child has fine hair, they can be found here)
- One piece of ribbon that is 18 inches long
- Hot glue gun and hot glue
- Button
First, cut your ribbon into 5 pieces that are all 3.5 inches long
Next, glue one end of the ribbon to the center
Then glue the other end of the ribbon to the center also, so that the two ends meet.
Then glue the other end of the ribbon to the center also, so that the two ends meet.
Do this to three of your other ribbon pieces so that you have 4 pieces that look like the above picture
Then hot glue one of the pieces on top of the other piece
Do the same thing with your third and fourth pieces of ribbon, forming a flower.
When you're done, your flower should look like the picture above, with all four pieces of ribbon glued together.
You should have one 3.5 inch piece left, which you will glue to the top of your alligator clip. You will probably need to cut it so that it is just long enough to fold over each end.
Next glue your grippy to the back side of the top of the clip. The picture below is the clip upside down so that you can see how the grippy is installed. Nothing is glued to the back prong of the alligator clip. Both the ribbon and the grippy are glued to the front prong, which in the picture below, is touching the table.
Finally, if you'd like, glue a coordinating button to the center of your flower and then glue your flower to the alligator clip.
Then hot glue one of the pieces on top of the other piece
Do the same thing with your third and fourth pieces of ribbon, forming a flower.
When you're done, your flower should look like the picture above, with all four pieces of ribbon glued together.
